New Building

New High School Building Plans

In 2018 we began preparation of a Strategic Plan with a view to establishing a High School on the same site as the existing Primary School for 2019. The Strategic Plan included consultation with:

  • the School community;
  • the wider community (particularly the wider Christian communities);
  • other Christian schools that had gone through similar growth.

The Strategic Plan included predicting future enrolments, budgeting and facilities requirements to match the educational program. The development of the Master Plan: Facilities Development started early in 2018 following this process.

Due to the growth and ongoing stability of our Primary School, it became clear that we needed to create a Facilities Development Plan to meet the community’s desire to expand into a High School. Our community united to devise a strategy. As many of our students come from backgrounds of school failure, we worked to provide an ongoing educational facility that would ensure their learning success.

Year 7 commenced in 2019 with 4 students from our graduating Year 6 class. Although our long-term vision was to establish a larger Year 7 cohort, we were limited by our physical environment. Our Stage 4 classroom was a converted Art Shed that accommodated approximately 8 students. Because of this restriction we were unable to grow in numbers; however, we commenced Year 8 in 2020, Year 9 in 2021, and Year 10 in 2022. We are considering adding Years 11 and 12 at some point in future.

The High School is currently being run from Frenchs Forest Baptist Church premises while we await the construction of the new building. All of our teaching and learning programs meet the RoSA (Record of School Achievement) requirements.

The previous High School classroom is currently being used as a much-needed staffroom and office space.

Initial development proposals include the construction of an additional multi-purpose building for our secondary students. We have received a block grant of $350,000 from the Federal government. The project includes:

  • An additional 2 GLA class rooms (with partitioning to open into a whole school function facility)
  • A science laboratory facility
  • An additional 3 student bathrooms (1 disability toilet, 2 girls’ toilets, 2 boys’ toilets)
  • An outside undercover area

It was essential that  government assistance was obtained to ensure the future growth of the School. The Master Plan looks at the ongoing growth of the Primary School, the additional Secondary years being added and how additional facilities will be provided to meet the overall needs of the whole community.

As we still have a shortfall of building funds and costs are constantly rising, any donations to the Building Fund would be greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. Please consider partnering with us for this very important project.
